Pixie Powder Card

Hello Crafters!

Here is a card made at our workshops.

This card is a sample made using Cosmic Shimmer Pixie Powders, Sentimentally Yours Stamps 'Chalkboard Collection', Background Stamps and various Montage Stamps, Sue Wilson dies 'Cascading Butterflies', Archival Inks.

The colours used on the main sample card are Aubergine Dream, Pale Olive and White Pearl, but as always we've included samples made by our crafters in other colours.

Stage 1 - Cut out the card layers to your chosen size that you will mat/layer.  This card is slightly bigger than DL size.

Stage 2 - Cut out of the dies - We have used Cascading Butterflies, but the Magical Butterflies would also work well.

Stage 3 - Choose your Pixie Powder colours for the card.  We have used 3 colours, but you could use 2 colours or a random pattern.  Using a water colour brush thoroughly wet the middle section of the top layer until you can see the water glistening.   Then tap the Pixie Powders gently onto the wet section of the card in your chosen pattern.  Here we did the middle section first, then the outer sections and then went over the whole section with white pearl.  You may need to use a Misting Bottle if you want the colours to merge more, but use sparingly, so the colours don't run too much! Use a heat tool to thoroughly dry the card.  This may take a little time, so be patient!  Keep flat until later.

Stage 4 - To colour the sentiment topper you have 2 choices..... You can either wet the edges with the water colour brush, tap the powder on and dry as before.  Or you can stamp the sentiment first and then add the colour after.  If stamping first be sure to use a permanent ink such as Archival or Staz On.  We have used Chalkboard Essentials 'Inspirational Words'

Stage 5 - Add some Pixie Powder colour to your Cascading Butterfly die cuts.  Here we tapped the powder on first and then used a Misting Bottle to wet the powders. Dry thoroughly.

Stage 6 - Choose the background and Montage Stamps that you wish to use to decorate the card layer.  Here we have used the following; Crackled Background, Vintage Script, Butterfly Elegance Icons.    On this card we used Archival Jet Black and literally just pressed the corners of the background stamp into the ink pad.

Stage 7 - Assemble all the layers and use Double Sided Foam Tape where you wish.  Add the Butterflies.

  3. I am another fan of Pixie Powders. What type of card stock do you generally use for your Pixies?

    Thanks
